Description
Brachionopus sp. “Limpopo” brings a new genus and new locality to the hobby. Possibly the most interesting thing about this spider is its size. Females are an inch plus at maturity, males even smaller. Yet another interesting tarantula from South Africa, Limpopo Province in this case.
Care of B. sp. “Limpopo” spiderlings is as you might expect. Keep yours over slightly dampened substrate (1 part water + 10 parts dry substrate) and limit ventilation so as to allow humidity to accumulate. With each molt the spiderling will gain some in drought tolerance. Juveniles through adults can be kept on drier substrate and ventilation liberalized some. Consider a water dish as insurance when time between feedings is less certain.
As always, adapt care measures to your home’s climate.
