Poecilotheria metallica adult male • 5″ (Gooty sapphire ornamental)

Description

A Poecilotheria metallica adult male is presented here. Poecilotheria metallica, the Gooty sapphire ornamental, stands out among its cousins. Indeed, the Gooty sapphire stands out among all other tarantulas. There are some hobbyists who have one tarantula and P. metallica is it.

Breeding P. metallica has always been a challenge. Some in the U.S. and overseas have accomplished the feat. Nonetheless, the skill is not widespread. We encourage breeders and would-be breeders to take advantage of this uncommon opportunity.

This adult male’s last molt date was August 19, 2025. He’s made a sperm web and is taking prey.
