Description
Pamphobeteus sp. “tigris” is native to Ecuador and has been around for years. Females mature at a leg span of about 6 inches, but growth edges forward with each yearly molt. Freshly molted specimens are black, but black sometimes lightens to brown as adults approach premolt. There is a dark X-mas tree pattern on the rumps of spiderlings. The pattern disappears as they molt into juveniles and after a few more molts uniform black supervenes. The spiderlings here are taking 1/2 – 3/4″ crickets well.
