Description

A juvenile Brachypelma albiceps female tarantula is listed here. B. albiceps has a red-haired rump and black legs, a combination by itself reminiscent of Tliltocatl. On the other hand, the yellow carapace of the golden red rump is distinctive among all Brachypelma. Together, yellow carapace, red-haired rump and black legs create a look that gives B. albiceps immediate recognizability.

Like its Brachypelma cousins, B. albiceps comes from dry savannah. Juveniles and older specimens are fairly drought tolerant. Thus, in captivity they do well with slightly dry substrate and moderate ventilation. A water dish now and then can be helpful to avoid unintentional dehydration.

An opportunistic burrower, B. albiceps will take advantage of a hide.
