Description
Crassicrus sp. “Veracruz” is a recently introduced Mexican species. The Crassicrus sp. “Veracruz” female listed above does not yet show the dark rump with red hairs nor dark femurs of the adult C. sp. “Veracruz” female. The overall look approaches A. chalcodes (Arizona blonde), but the dark features somehow enhance the look, possibly with contrast. This juvenile C. sp. “Veracruz” female is rather docile. She will grow to about 4 inches.
We suggest keeping her on slightly dry substrate, preferably with a clean water dish to support hydration. Climate in Veracruz, Mexico is subtropical humid with a distinct dry season. Limit ventilation to allow just a bit of humidity to build. As an opportunistic burrower, she’ll make use of a hide.
Room temperature (68-72F) is sufficient. Warmer temperatures to 80F are okay, but make sure the enclosure doesn’t completely dry out due to faster water evaporation.

Care highlights:
- slightly dry substrate for juveniles through adults
- slightly boost humidity by limiting ventilation +/- a water dish
- room temperature (68-72F) up to 80F
- consider a hide, forest litter and plantings for enrichment
