Description
Listed here is a juvenile Nhandu carapoensis female for sale. Nhandu carapoensis, also known as the Brazilian red tarantula, is native to central Brazil. Red refers to its coat of red hairs, giving this medium-size dark tarantula a rather exotic look. The darkness is not pitch black. It’s closer to black coffee perhaps. N. carapoensis has a rather calm disposition. Disposition, dense red setae and eery darkness together contribute to endearing N. carapoensis to collectors. Females will reach about 5 inches in captivity.
N. carapoensis comes from subtropical savanna near the Brazil/Paraguay border. Juveniles and older specimens, such as this N. carapoensis female, will do well on dry to slightly dampened substrate. Modestly elevated humidity generated by substrate, slightly restricted ventilation and/or a water dish is probably beneficial. The Brazilian red tarantula is a lovely species. Its beauty is somewhat understated, but that appeals of many of us.
