Description
Listed for sale is a Nhandu tripepii juvenile female. Commonly known as the Brazilian giant blonde, N. tripepii comes from a limited area in northeastern Brazil. Climate in this region is equatorial, similar to that supporting Acanthoscurria geniculata found slightly to the north. Vegetation is tropical rainforest (see Belem locality photo below).
In captivity, N. tripepii spiderlings thrive in elevated humidity and at room temperature (68-72F/20-22C). This juvenile female has acquired some drought tolerance and will do well on slightly dry substrate, with liberalized ventilation and a water dish.
You’ll find N. tripepii hardy, active and reasonably fast growing. Temperament is moderate so best not to handle it, particularly because many find its flicked hairs particularly itchy.
