Description
Appreciated for bright pink metallic accents on the mature male, Pamphobeteus sp. “platyomma” is otherwise notable for size and dark brown shades in females and immature males.
Pamphobeteus sp. “platyomma light” is a lighter, more recent version of P. sp. “platyomma.” The first photo below, courtesy Melody Frazier, shows a semi-adult female standard P. sp. “platyomma.” The next photo shows P. sp. “platyomma light.”

There are some uncertainties as to the origin of P. sp. “platyomma” and indeed, P. sp. “platyomma light.” Whether the latter is a different species or just a color variant of the former remains to be seen.
Photos: 1-one of the specimens for sale; 2,3 – adult female.
Care highlights:
- less than slightly dampened substrate for juveniles
- elevated humidity +/- water dish support
- room temperature (68-72F) up to 80F
- an opportunistic burrower, consider a hide
- consider forest litter and plantings for enrichment
